Cat's eye beads, gemstone that display a thin band of reflected light on its surface when cut as a cabochon, get their name from the interesting way they refract light, reminiscent of a cat's eye. Sometimes they are referred to as fiber-optic beads and made by fusing quartz fibers into the shape of a bead. They have a beautiful "Eye" that changes as it is viewed in different light.
